The MX Series brakes, specifically the SMX caliper, are designed for use with disc brakes, typically one or two calipers per disc depending on size. These brakes are part of the Twiflex series and utilize a patented link mechanism for even pad wear. They can be positioned at any angle around the disc but ideally should be mounted horizontally. Pneumatic operation requires filtered and non-lubricated compressed air, and a control valve. The brakes must be used with Twiflex asbestos-free brake pads, and a range of brake discs is available.
